900 Kilometres of Rugged Trails in 27 Days - My Personal Accounts

Over 27 days, I ran 882 kilometres.  This is my personal account.

Starting on November 12th 2023, I had a goal in mind of reaching the end of The Bruce Trail in Ontario, Canada by November 21st 2023.  My plan was ambitious, my motives were high and I was prepared for the best.   While my journey did not turn out the least like I expected, it turned out the most like I needed.

With sunny skies and warm weather at the beginning of November, I started out exactly as I was expecting.  The trails at the Southern sections of my hike were rolling, with minimal roots and rocks.  The leaves had already fallen and were damped down from other hikers.  For the first 450 kilometres, it was a relatively easy hike; mind you having a 25+ pound backpack was a factor, it only started to play a role physically at the very end.

Coming to the 450 kilometre mark, I had figured that the worst was behind me.  "How bad could it be after climbing through those hills in Orangeville" I thought to myself after passing through a seemingly tough hilly section.  Boy was I wrong.  The universe had a greater plan for me.

After passing halfway, I was met with plenty of seeming obstacles in reaching my end goal.  God had no little plan in mind when he crafted the journey for my dream.

Rocks, ice, freezing rain, snow, negative 10 temperatures, slush.  Whatever I did not predict, happened.  I persevered.

Ultimately, the lesson that I learned and really hammered home to my subconscious was this: We are much more resilient, adaptable and capable than we think.  The circumstance does not matter when we make the decision that the thing is done, and when we just do what we have to, to reach our end goal.  The circumstance is but a test.  It is but an opportunity for us to overcome those perceived barriers and to step upward onto our next stage in growth.  When we are able to see our obstacles in this light, we are able to grow.. and grow massively because all obstacles are within Gods plan.  When we surmount those circumstances, it shows the Creator that we are willing to bet on us.  It shows the Creator that we are ready for our next challenge, that we are ready for what awaits us next in our growth.  The beautiful thing is, we will continue to be presented the same lesson until it is surmounted and ultimately learned.  We will continue to be at that awareness and lesson until we decide that we will put our names to the lesson and surmount our perceived obstacles.  That takes courage.  God, the Creator, gave us no shortage of courage.  We tap into it by using it, by simply stepping into the thing.  We will find that we have all of the courage that we need when we just step into it, not the other way around.

As I stepped to the stone that stood at the end of my run, the pillar represented a great Truth for me, a lesson learned.

"I can do whatever it is I want, I just have to persevere, I just never quit.  Every day I just keep getting up and I go at it again until it is achieved.  That is the secret to all success, that there is no secret.  Just get up and do the thing until it is my reality."
